Heat your home with an air source heat pump which extracts heat from the air outside

Welcome to AES - Expert Heat Pump installers in Oxfordshire

Your Local Oxfordshire Specialists for over 35 Years

Are you a property owner in Oxfordshire looking to upgrade your home heating system?

With the ever increasing costs of energy and a growing need for more sustainable solutions, many of Oxfordshire’s residents are turning to the modern, efficient, and eco-friendly alternative to burning fossil fuel: the air source heat pump.

At AES Limited, a family-run business with over 35 years of expertise in renewable energy, we are dedicated to helping our neighbours in Oxford, Banbury, Bicester and Abingdon and the wider Oxfordshire region make the switch to a cleaner, more cost-effective way to heat their homes.

Oxfordshire’s climate is naturally suited for air source heat pump technology. The typically mild Oxford winters mean these systems operate at peak efficiency year-round.

Whilst Oxfordshire County Council has its own ambitious action plan to go carbon neutral by 2030, it doesn’t really operate any local incentives or schemes to support private installations. However the Government has extended the popular Boiler Upgrade Scheme until the end of 2027. The BUS scheme offers grants of up to £7500 towards the costs of replacing fossil fuel boilers by replacing them with an air source heat pump system.

We are committed to helping homeowners and local businesses in Oxfordshire and the surrounding areas move towards a less-impactful and more sustainable future in a cost effective way.

What is a Heat Pump and How Do They Work?

Heat Pumps Explained

The basic principle is as simple as it is brilliant; take the free energy that exists in the air and ground outside and convert this energy into heat for your home.

This heat can then be used to heat radiators, underfloor heating systems, or warm air convectors and hot water throughout your home. For every 1kW of electricity fed into a heat pump unit (the outdoor unit) you can generate around 3kW of heating energy.

Often the easiest way to explain the process is to imagine a fridge running in reverse. An air source heat pump extracts heat from the outside air in the same way that a fridge extracts heat from its inside. Amazingly this works even when the outside temperature is as low as -15°c.
