We offer a free detailed site survey whereby, we evaluate your air conditioning requirements for either a new installation or a replacement system.

We will work with you to ensure we have interpreted your requirements correctly and provide you with a design and specification that has been tailored to suit your requirements.

Upon receipt of an official order or written instruction we will schedule your project/installation into our work programme.  Once logged our office will keep you fully informed on the progress of your installation.

On completion of the installation the system is fully commissioned in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations.  We will then instruct you and your staff on the operational features of the system and issue an operational manual for your reference.

R22 Refrigerant Legislation

Review, Replace or Recycle

R22 refrigerant is now banned

R22 refrigerant is now a banned substance.  Until 1 January 2015, it was used to complete most repairs and servicing of the majority air conditioning systems.

To comply companies are being encouraged to adopt new, low carbon technologies to improve efficiency.  The need to reduce CO2 emissions is further driving the demand for improved energy efficiency in every commercial building, whatever the application.

It should also be remembered that a more energy efficient system will enable building owners to achieve improved energy ratings under the Energy Performance of Building Directive.

Benefit from the ECA Scheme

You could make considerable savings on your running costs by simply putting an action plan in place. The government have put in place the Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme which allows any company replacing an existing air conditioning system with a more energy efficient installation to offset the entire cost of the project against its taxable profits in the year the new system is installed.

Air Conditioning Servicing

A cost effective way to ensure smooth, reliable and energy efficient operation

Pre-Planned Maintenance

As with most electronic equipment it is recommended servicing is carried out regularly in order to ensure the system maintains is its optimal running efficiency in terms of reliability and operation.

In a productive office, it is understandable that the servicing of your air conditioning system does not always take priority. We all have busy working agendas. We recommend however, that taking the decision to act sooner can save you both hundreds of pounds in downtime and call out fees.

Our bespoke pre-planned preventative maintenance visits which are available on a yearly basis would substantially help reduce the chance of a breakdown occurring and maintain your system manufacturer’s warranty*.

You wouldn’t run your car without a service or an oil change and nor should you with your air conditioning.

*Assuming your system is within the manufacturer’s warranty period.

Common Air Conditioning Problems

The main symptons

Many of the day-to-day air conditioning problems we encounter are caused by a lack of regular maintenance. We have listed below what we believe to be some of the main symptoms.

If you experience any of these issues please do not hesitate in contacting us to arrange an inspection, repair or service.

One of the most common breakdown calls we receive are related to a system leaking water. There are two possibilities for a unit leaking one of which is the lack of regular servicing or condensate pump failure. This kind of breakdown is easily repaired and is achievable within the first hour on site.

If you feel that your air conditioning system is not performing at its optimal level of efficiency this may simply be that the unit has not been regularly maintained or serviced. The unit(s) could also be extremely dirty causing lack of performance. Having the system deep cleaned is often enough to resolve this problem.

However, it could also imply you have more serious issues – such as a refrigerant leak. A refrigerant leak requires a more in-depth investigation in order to resolve. Please call our team to arrange an engineer should you be experiencing any of the above.

If you experience your air conditioning freezing up and possibly dripping water onto the floor, you will require an engineer to attend site. We can check if the unit requires a deep clean, or if the refrigerant system is leaking and report our findings. If the unit is dirty, then it will be unable to ‘operate’ correctly, which then means the chilled air cannot escape into the room so the unit consequently freezes. The same effect happens if the system has a refrigerant leak. The unit will eventually fail and may result in a replacement unit being required.

Air conditioning units produce condensate (water), and this runs inside the units and is eventually removed from the system. This condensate mixed with ever-changing temperatures can create bacteria on the coils. Having the unit serviced regularly with the correct chemicals not only removes these smells but makes the system more efficient.

When it feels like the flow of air from the unit is not as powerful as before it might need a simple adjustment of the fan speed on the controller, or it could be a faulty fan motor especially if it sounds noisy. If the filters on the indoor unit are dirty, or grime has attached itself to the fan blades, it will require either a general clean or possibly a deep clean depending on the severity of the problem. Our air conditioning engineers can repair units or service them typically the same day we are called.

For a system to run at optimum performance, it needs to be able to breathe freely. If the air conditioner is blocked with muck and grime, then it has to work a lot harder to achieve the same amount of cooling or heating. The more blocked the air con unit is, the more electricity it will draw. Having the unit serviced regularly, therefore, lowers energy consumption, lowers repair and maintains manufacturer’s warranty.

General Air Conditioning Maintenance Checklist

Below we have provided a rough guide to checks which take place during a normal air conditioning service visit.

Indoor Units

  • Clean filters
  • Clean evaporator coil
  • Check drip tray for dirt and debris
  • Clean and test condensate pump (where fitted)
  • Check all air on and air off temperatures in both cooling and heating
  • Check controls operation

Outdoor Units

  • Inspect and Clean Heat Exchanger
  • Check Visible signs for refrigerant leaks
  • Check pipework and lagging integrity
  • Check drip tray for dirt and debris
  • Check all air on and air off temperatures in both cooling and heating
  • Check electrical connections and tighten as necessary
