Refrigeration System Servicing

A cost effective way to ensure smooth, reliable and energy efficient operation

Pre-Planned Maintenance

As with most electronic equipment regular servicing is always our recommendation.

We believe that by investing in a planned preventative maintenance programme you can ensure that your equipment operates at its maximum efficiency coupled with optimum reliability and reduced running costs. Having your systems regularly maintained also safeguards the manufacturer’s warranty. Relying on a reactive strategy is a short term solution that can prove costly in the long term.

Common Refrigeration Problems

The main symptons

Many of the day-to-day refrigeration issues we encounter on a daily basis are normally associated with a lack of regular maintenance. If you experience any of the common symptoms detailed below we advise contacting us to arrange an inspection, repair or service.

One of the most common breakdowns calls we receive are related to a system leaking water. There are two possibilities for a unit leaking one of which is the lack of regular servicing or condensate pump failure. This kind of breakdown is easily repaired and is achievable within the first hour on site. Please call our team to arrange an engineer to attend site should you be experience the above.

If you feel that your Refrigeration system is not performing at is optimal level of efficiency this may simply be that the unit has not been regularly maintained or serviced. The unit(s) could also be extremely dirty causing lack of performance. Having the system deep cleaned is often enough to resolve this problem. However, it could also imply you have more serious issues – such as a refrigerant leak. A refrigerant leak requires a more in-depth investigation in order to resolve. Please call our team to arrange an engineer should you be experiencing any of the above.

If you experience your refrigeration systems freezing up and possibly dripping water onto the floor, you will require an engineer to attend site. We can check if the unit requires a deep clean, or if the refrigerant system is leaking and report our findings. If the unit is dirty, then it will be unable to ‘operate’ correctly, which then means the chilled air cannot escape into the room so the unit consequently freezes. The same effect happens if the system has a refrigerant leak. The unit will eventually fail and may result in a replacement unit being required. Please call our team to arrange an engineer should you be experiencing any of the above.

The majority of refrigeration equipment produces condensate water. This water runs within the system and is eventually removed via a condensate pump. If the condensate pump is not cleaned on a regular basis you may start experiencing unpleasant odours. Please contact us if your system needs a clean.

General Refrigeration Maintenance Checklist

Below we have provided a rough guide to checks which take place during a normal refrigeration service visit.

Indoor Units

  • Clean filters
  • Clean evaporator coil
  • Check drip tray for dirt and debris
  • Clean and test condensate pump (where fitted)
  • Check controls operation

Outdoor Units

  • Inspect and clean heat exchanger
  • Check for visible signs for refrigerant leaks
  • Check pipework and lagging integrity
  • Check drip tray for dirt and debris
  • Check all air on and air off temperatures
  • Check electrical connections and tighten as necessary
