Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Electricity Systems
installs Solar Photovoltaic products. These products are designed to help reduce CO2 emissions which are continually released into the atmosphere. By offering this type of product we are hoping to persuade home owners and businesses that if we can all unite together we can all contribute towards improving our environment by investing in a product which offers substantial financial benefits - (8-12% return on investment).
As electricity prices are expected to rise sharply over the next few years it makes sense to invest in a Solar Photovoltaic system. By using sunlight generated by the sun the energy is captured through the solar panels installed on your property. It’s this energy that can be used to generate electricity. You will be paid for the energy you generate AND you will save money on your current energy bills.
Financial Benefits
The benefits of solar electricity
- You can earn up to £2,000 per year according to SAP 2009 calculations*
- Feed in Tariff (FIT) for a period of 25 years: you are entitled to a payment from your supplier for each kWh of electricity that you generate whether you use it or not.
- The tariff varies depending on how many kWp you are looking to produce and whether the panels will be fitted to an existing roof or to a new build. The most common installations will be carried out on existing roofs with a maximum of 4kWp which will currently entitle you to 43.3p per kWh. If your installation is carried out before 31st March 2012 you will be guaranteed this tariff for the next 25 years along with an annual increase in line with the RPI (Retail Price Index). For every year after that date, the tariff is expected to fall by approximately 10%.
- Cut your electricity bills: sunlight is free, so once you have paid for the initial installation your electricity costs will be greatly reduced. A typical home Photovoltaic system can produce around 40% of the electricity a household uses in a year.
- Export Tariff:** The majority of homeowners are normally out during the working day and will therefore not be using the electricity that is generated. Surplus energy will be exported back into the grid and you will be paid an additional 3.1p per kWh. (This is in addition to the 43.3p per kWh received for producing the electricity).
- Cut your carbon footprint: solar electricity is green, renewable energy and doesn't release any harmful carbon dioxide (CO2) or other pollutants. A typical home Photovoltaic system could save around 1 tonne of CO2 per year.
- The financial returns for homeowners are Tax Free!

** Most properties do not have import/export meters fitted and in these circumstances the government/energy providers have agreed that 50% of all generated electricity is assumed to be exported back onto the grid.
